Bowie · Apr 25, 2026Bowie Public Library books Hill Country author for June reading series.

The Bowie Public Library has scheduled Hill Country novelist Patricia Swall for a reading and question session on Sunday, June 14th, at 2 p.m. Admission is free. Seating is limited to 80 and the library expects the room to fill.

Swall is the author of three novels — Caliche Season, The Dry Months, and What the River Left — all set in fictional versions of small Texas towns. The books are available at the library and at Wise Street Books, which will have signed copies for purchase on the day of the reading.

The June 14th event is the third in the library's 2026 reading series. The series began in February with a local history lecture and a poetry reading in April. Librarian Gina Voss said the Swall event is the most anticipated of the three. "We had people ask about it before we'd even officially announced it," Voss said.
