About

Nocona General Hospital has served as the healthcare anchor for Montague County since opening its doors on April 15, 1974. Established as a public hospital district in August 1971, NGH is community-owned and governed by an elected Board of Directors. The main campus at 100 Park Road offers 24-hour emergency care (Level IV Trauma Center), surgical services, radiology, cardiac and respiratory care, physical therapy and rehabilitation, home health, laboratory, and a Wellness Center. Named to Chartis Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals for 2025 — one of only six Texas hospitals to receive the honor, and the second consecutive year for NGH. In 2024, NGH broke ground on a $6.8 million cash-funded expansion adding ~2,800 sq ft to the clinic and ER. Starting May 2026, a group of 16 board-certified emergency physicians from ACP Health joined local staff. CEO Lance Meekins leads the organization. Rural Health Clinics serve Nocona (90 Park Rd), Bowie (504 N. Mason), and Saint Jo (108 E. Boggess).
