About

Nocona General Hospital has served as the healthcare anchor for Montague County since opening its doors on April 15, 1974. Established as a public hospital district in August 1971, NGH is community-owned and governed by an elected Board of Directors — not a private health system. The main campus at 100 Park Road in Nocona offers 24-hour emergency care (Level IV Trauma Center, certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services), surgical services, radiology, cardiac and respiratory care, physical therapy and rehabilitation, home health, laboratory, and a Wellness Center. In January 2019, the hospital assumed operations of the Nocona Medical Clinic network and rebranded it as NGH Rural Health Clinics, with locations in Nocona (90 Park Rd), Bowie (504 N. Mason), and Saint Jo (108 E. Boggess). In 2023, NGH formed the Nocona General Hospital Foundation to support its community mission. In July 2024, the hospital broke ground on a $6.8 million expansion — paid entirely in cash — adding approximately 2,800 square feet to the clinic and emergency room areas across four phases. CEO Lance Meekins leads the hospital staff and providers. For the communities of Montague County and southern Oklahoma, Nocona General Hospital represents accessible, locally governed rural healthcare.
