Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
LocalMoCo is designed to be readable and usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technologies. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all page templates.
Design decisions made for accessibility
- Every page has a single H1 heading. Heading levels do not skip.
- Skip-to-content link appears as the first focusable element on every page.
- All interactive elements have visible focus indicators (2px red outline).
- Color is never the sole means of conveying information.
- All images have descriptive alt text or are marked decorative.
- Minimum touch target size is 44 by 44 pixels for all interactive elements.
- Text and background color combinations meet 4.5:1 contrast ratio for body text.
Known limitations
This site is actively being built. Some pages built in early phases may not yet meet all targets above. We are working through a QA checklist before soft launch. Pages with known gaps are documented in our internal issue tracker.
Maps rendered in the county directory use SVG with labeled links. Screen readers will encounter the map as a series of links to town directory pages. This is intentional and accessible, though it is not a visual map experience.
How to report a barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on LocalMoCo, please contact us via the contact page and describe the page URL and the nature of the barrier. We will respond within five business days and prioritize fixing verified barriers before soft launch.
Assistive technologies tested
We test with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS. We test keyboard navigation on all page templates. Mobile testing is conducted on iOS Safari and Android Chrome.
